Library Policies

MISSION:
Our mission is to provide appropriate materials and personal assistance, which will help produce lifelong learners who read for pleasure and information.

ABOUT OUR LIBRARY:
Students at New London Academy visit the library each week for a scheduled class.  During this visit, the children may listen to a story, have a lesson on some aspect of using the library, or have an author study.  They also check out books.  With the permission of their classroom teacher, students may visit the library during unscheduled
times of the day to renew, check out another book, or do research.

LIBRARY POLICIES:

Circulation:  Students in preschool, kindergarten and first grade may check out one book at a time.  Second grade students may check out two books at a time, and third, fourth and fifth grade  students may check out three books at a time.  Overdue books must be returned before checking out more books.

Lost/Damaged Books:   Students are responsible for replacement costs of lost items.  Damaged book charges will be assessed on an individual basis.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Volunteers are always welcome to help check out and shelve books in the Media Center.  Volunteers are also needed for the two book fairs held each year.  Volunteer qualifications include a love for children, learning and books!  The hours are customized to your availability.  Many volunteers work weekly, while others come on an as-needed basis.
