Week of May 18th

The packet this week is a Home Based Project. It is a thick packet with numerous skills. It should be a great activity to complete independently and fun for your child too!
The city council needs your help to increase tourism and want to build community activities. They need you to design a water park with awesome rides, wonderful pools, and maybe even a lagoon. This is an excellent opportunity for you to show off your creativity and skills.
You can pick this packet up Monday through Friday between 11:00-1:00 in the curbside food pickup line. If you can not make it to the school during this time, please let me know!
This week during virtual lessons, we are going to explore North America through virtual field trips! They might require some adult help to navigate some of the pages. I hope that you enjoy this different way of learning.
We are going to start our journey in Washington, D.C.
Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum: thousands of objects on display, including the 1903 Wright Flyer and Neil Armstrong’s Apollo 11 spacesuit. Take a Virtual Tour Here (scroll down about half way through the page to see the tour)
The White House: View a Virtual 360 Tour of the White House Here. Use your mouse to scroll around! You can also view some of the White House on Google Arts & Culture through Virtual Tours located here.
Cherry Blossoms: each spring, the cherry blossoms lining Washington’s DC’s Tidal Basin burst into color in a beautiful display of floral fireworks. But the peak bloom period only lasts a few days and precisely when it happens varies each year. Check out the latest updates on the Cherry Blossoms Here.

Join Boeing and Discovery Education on a mission to inspire the world through aerospace innovation with an exclusive virtual field trip to historic Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This behind-the-scenes tour will introduce students to just a few of the amazing Boeing employees who are preparing to write the next chapter of space history with the launch of the Starliner/CST-100 spacecraft and the deployment of the Space Launch System (SLS).

This virtual field trip will explore a variety of unexpected roles and functions that lend to the development of complex projects, like the Starliner/CST-100 and the SLS. Along the way, students will be exposed to the unusual paths that have led to these unique careers.
